NYU Sends Out Offers of Admission to the Class of 2027
Offers of admission to the Class of 2027 were made public by NYU today. 8% of candidates received offers of admission to NYU's New York campus, a record. Less than 5% of applicants were granted admission to three of NYU's undergraduate institutions.
Nearly 120,000 applications—13% more than the previous year and another record-breaking amount of applications—were received for first-year admission, and these bright and varied students were chosen from among them. The average SAT score of the admitted class is 1540.
The approximately 5,700 first-year students who will be enrolled in the university next fall's entering class are predicted to be diverse; over 26% of them will identify as American Indian/Alaskan Native, Native Hawaiian or Other Pacific Islander, Black/African American, or Hispanic. 20% of the admitted class are Pell Grant recipients, and 19% identify as the first in their families to attend college. Admitted students hail from all 50 states, the District of Columbia, and Puerto Rico, and represent 86 countries. For first-year students attending, NYU satisfies a demonstrated need.
According to Jonathan Williams, Associate Vice President of Undergraduate Admissions, Access, and Pipeline Programs, "NYU's admitted class of 2027 reaffirms the University's commitment to higher education access and our enduring position as a University that is 'open to all, regardless of national origin, religious beliefs, or social background. It is humbling that so many exceptional young people from all around the world choose NYU as the educational institution that would enable them to realize their academic and professional ambitions. These students represent the best of us. NYU continues to show that selectivity and a particularly talented student body are not mutually exclusive to sustaining ideals of diversity and access, which so profoundly enrich a university education, as we look to the future under new legal guidelines about diversity in higher education.
NYU, which was established in 1831 and is a member of the exclusive Association of American Universities, is one of the top research universities in the world, spending more than $1 billion each year on research. In addition to its eleven other global academic sites, which include London, Paris, Florence, Tel Aviv, Buenos Aires, and Accra, NYU has degree-granting university campuses in New York, Abu Dhabi, and Shanghai. It also educates more international students than any other American college or university. NYU is a pioneer in conducting research and offering education across a wide range of fields, including the arts and sciences, law, medicine, business, dentistry, education, nursing, cinematic and performing arts, music, studio art, public administration, social work, and professional studies, through its numerous schools and colleges.
