Rivers State University (RSU) Port Harcourt was founded in October 1980 from the Rivers State College of Science and Technology, which was founded in 1972. It is in Nkpolu-Oroworukwo, which is in Port Harcourt, Nigeria. Port Harcourt is the capital of Rivers State.
Rivers State University is the first Technological University in Nigeria. It is also the first State University in Nigeria's Niger Delta area that is owned by the government. "Excellence and Creativity" is the University's slogan. About 1,800 people work at the University, and more than 28,000 people go there. The only language taught in the school is English.
