Top 20 Best Universities In Nigeria 2023 | University Ranking

The National Universities Commission (NUC) has begun ranking public universities in Nigeria since there is such a high level of interest in the NUC's annual ranking of Nigerian universities.

The rating of universities in the nation was temporarily put on hold, but the commission's executive secretary clarified early this year that a committee had been formed to provide guidance to the commission on university rankings in Nigeria.

The institution of Ibadan (UI) was named the finest institution in the nation according to the NUC Universities Ranking, while Ladoke Akintola University was named the best state university in Nigeria.

Most recent: Times Higher Education has published its list of top universities for 2023. The top three universities in Nigeria are Covenant University, the University of Lagos, and the University of Ibadan. UI took top place, followed by UNILAG in second and CU in third.

Every year, Webometric carries out research and ranks Nigerian institutions based on their four rating criteria.  The "Webometrics Ranking of World Universities" is a project of the Cybermetrics Lab, a research unit of the Consejo Superior de Investigaciones Cientificas (CSIC), the principal Spanish public research organization.

The best private university in the country is Covenant University, which came in second place overall in the 2022 university rankings. Landmark University is another private institution that made the top 10. The University of Ibadan was named the best university in Nigeria. Last but not least, Ladoke Akintola University, Ogbomosho, which is ranked in 12th place, is the finest state university.
